Premise Review

What: Premise Review

When: After writer has crafted a clean tight 1-sentence premise for their nonfiction book

Who: Nonfiction writers who are seeking to clarify the premise--the rudder!--of their book

Why: To ensure that your premise is clear, unique, and meets a reader's need

Fee: $49

Here's what we know about a winning one-sentence premise statement :

1. It's short, clear, and easy-to-grasp.

2. It's saying something fresh, something other communicators aren't saying.

3. It's meeting a reader's need.

Because the premise of your book is what will attract the interest of readers and gatekeepers, it must be doing its job.

So together we work on your one-sentence premise to make sure it's as "sticky" as it can be!

How the process works:

1. You craft your premise

You write a premise statement that you feel best captures the unique angle of your book and signals what's in it for the reader.

You also offer me a paragraph, or page, explaining your larger vision for the book.

2. I offer feedback

Based on what you've shared, I send you feedback on your book's premise statement.

3. Two More Passes!

For this service, I offer three separate passes. What that means is that when you review my feedback, and implement changes, I’ll review it a second--and third!--time to make sure that your premise statement is doing its job.

(For the sake of clarity, each of us has 7 days to make the changes and return the premise to the other. However you can expect me to bounce back my review much quicker.)

The writer who will benefit from this service is at the front end of crafting a nonfiction book that serves readers.
